The difference between Mockingbird and I'm Back

Let's face it: the average Eminem fan is an idiot. Most of them are fooled into thinking that an Eminem song is immediately GOOD if the subject matter is serious or meaningful!!!!

Let's get something out of the way: there's nothing stopping you from liking the song "Mockingbird." Taste isn't debatable. But TALENT is debatable: Eminem displays no talent on that song. Any 8-year-old child can write lyrics as horribly simple as:

Hailie, I know you miss your mom, and I know you miss your DAD
But I'm trying to give you a life that I never HAD
I know you're SAD, and sometimes you are MAD
But I promise you that some day you'll be GLAD

Writing throw-away one syllable rhymes is just like any other rapper...just like any sad-sack on MySpace writing whiny poetry. What separates Eminem from the pack is he (in his prime) used to rhyme multiple syllables, while still making perfect sense with what he's saying...painting a crystal-clear picture in the listener's mind.

But no...Mockingbird is SERIOUS and DEEP shit, therefore it's a good song. Why do people claim someone is talented when the lay idiot can write the same thing? The truth is Eminem wasn't talented in his drugged-out days. He was just like every other rapper: unremarkable, with a boring flow and boring lyrics.

Meanwhile, songs like I'm Back are criticized (I see this in YouTube comments all the time) because he raps about nothing, or jumps from random topic to random topic? Yes, he rambles, but the lyrics are still coherent. For a song with opening lines:

I murder a rhyme one word at a time
You never heard of a mind as perverted as mine

The average Joe COULDN'T write something like this if their life depended on it.

To sum up...it is songs like this which define Eminem's talent, not shitty emo poorly-written songs like Mockingbird.
